
The Alaska Center for the Performing Arts is inviting high school
and college students, and Facebook fans to participate in our CENTERblog Program.
Selected writers will attend performances at the Center in the upcoming season
and post reviews on CENTERblog.
Applicants are not required to have "theatre" experience.
We are simply looking for great writers...could that be you?
SELECTION PROCESS:
- Full time/currently enrolled high school and college/university students and Facebook fans are invited to apply to participate in the program by submitting a 200-300 word essay on “Why the Performing Arts Matter in our Community.”
- The deadline for applications is December 5, 2011.
- Essays should be emailed to Jayna Combs at jcombs@alaskapac.org with the Subject: CENTERblog Application in the subject line.
- The essays will be judged by a panel of the Center staff, members of the resident company family and partners from our community.
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program by December 15, 2011.
REVIEW PROCESS:
- Reviews must be submitted to the Center within 24 hours of attending a performance.
- Once reviews are proofed/approved they will be posted on MyAlaskaCenter's CENTERblog – goal is next day postings.
- A review is the individual’s response to the work. The goal is a thoughtful critique of performance elements.
- Reviews must be 300-500 words
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
- The Center will manage the program, including assigning reviewers to shows throughout the performance season. The pool of reviewers will be spread evenly throughout the season of performances, giving each reviewer a variety of types of shows.
- The Center will be responsible for proofing and posting reviews on its new blog page.
- All reviewers must attend an orientation prior to being assigned to a show to review; date to be determined.
