Our Condolences
Paula Dickey, longtime artist and arts advocate, passed away last week in Homer. She was one of Alaska State Council on the Arts' artist/partners, a participant on panels, Percent for Art and Alaska Contemporary Art Bank artist. Paula designed the “Salmonberry” fabric which covers the seats in the Discovery Theatre. As an artist, teacher and mentor to many, she will be deeply missed. At Paula's request, there will be no funeral, no memorial, no celebration of life. The only thing she would allow was a celebration of art which will open at Homer Art and Frame on Sept. 16. For more information contact: Donna Martin at donnioak@hotmail.com. Condolences may be also be sent to: Brad Dickey, PO Box 2677, Homer, AK 99603.

Center Spotlight:
Atwood Concert Hall
Pit Lift Party
On Monday, August 1, 2011, many came to celebrate the unveiling of the new pit lift on the Atwood Concert Hall Stage. Many thanks to the following people who helped make this dream a reality:
- Dylan Bales - Bales Construction
- Raj Bhargava - RBA Engineering
& ACPA Board Member
- Dave Dorlan - 3-Way Electric
- Debra Fitzgerald - MOA Contract Manager
- Martin Hebert - GalaSystems
- Jenny Herzog - Coffman Engineers
- Larry Lander - GDM Architect
- Matt Lund - RBA Engineering
- Jeff Muckey - Bales Construction
- Daniel St. Germain - GalaSystems
- Kurt Steinert - MOA Capital Projects
- Will Veelman - Coffman Engineers
The pit lift installation project began in late May, was completed a couple weeks earlier than planned. As a result, the Atwood Concert Hall has been put back into inventory for our clients and users to utilize for the 2011-2012 performance season and beyond! In addition to the pit lift, new stage flooring was also installed.
